The Facts:
Following up on a
previous item, Titans coach Mike Munchak said an MRI on Jake Locker's shoulder revealed no structural damage. Munchak wouldn't rule out the second-year signal caller's for Sunday's game against the Minnesota Vikings, though he acknowledged that rest would be in Locker's best interest. “It surprised a lot of us how quickly and how good he felt within 48 hours or 72 hours of that injury last time,” Munchak said. “I hope he is that way so we can make the decision on what’s best for him and the team at that point. If we don’t feel he can function or play, obviously he won’t play.” Even if the Locker rests the shoulder for a few weeks, surgery to re-attach ligaments to the socket and tighten the area around it is a near certainty. He and the Titans would have to decide whether to risk another incident or cut his season short. Recovery would be four to six months.

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
Although Munchak was non-committal about Locker's Week 5 status, there is little chance that he will be under center on Sunday. We expect the Titans will keep him on ice for the next few weeks to allow the shoulder to heal on its own, then re-evaluate his condition. Season-ending surgery seems to be looming large for Locker.
