The Facts:
The Miami Dolphins signed free-agent wide receiver Jabar Gaffney on Tuesday and cut Legedu Naanee. Gaffney spent the 2011 season with the Washington Redskins, where he set career highs in receptions (68) and receiving yards (947). He has 443 receptions for 5,622 yards and 24 touchdowns in 10 NFL seasons. Gaffney signed with the New England Patriots during the offseason, but was cut during training camp after he sustained a right hip injury. Assuming he's healthy, Gaffney gives Ryan Tannehill a legitimate No. 3 target in the passing game. Naanee generated positive buzz during training camp, however he fizzled quickly once the regular season got underway. He was held catchless through three games and fumbled his first reception in the fourth quarter of Sunday's 24-21 loss to the Arizona Cardinals.

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
We like the Dolphins' signing of Gaffney. He's been the definition of "dependable" receiver in the past-good hands, solid instincts, understanding of defensive coverages-and as long as he's healthy, he'll be a dependable No. 3 for Ryan Tannehill and the Miami Dolphins. While Gaffney has been fantasy relevant in the past, he may not see enough offensive snaps to be a reliable fantasy starter. Watch list him for now, unless you have the bench space to pick him up on spec.
