Trent Green Offers Chiefs Cap Help
(2/22 9:30 PT)

The Facts:
Green said on Tuesday that he's willing to restructure his contract, which counts nearly $8.3 million against the Chiefs' salary cap. "If that's something that helps the team," Green said, "and we can get it done to get more guys signed or to get more cap room or bring in more free agents, yeah, I'm willing to do that." Reported by the Kansas City Star

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
GM Carl Peterson was touched by the gesture, but probably won't be taking his QB up on it. Peterson said the Chiefs have approached two or three players and asked that they restructure their contracts. He declined to identify the players but confirmed that Green and TE Tony Gonzalez weren't among them. Both were thought to be ideal restructuring candidates. Gonzalez has one of the highest cap numbers on the team (about $6.5 million).
