The Facts:
Following up on a
previous item, Yahoo's Jason Cole reported that New York Jets wide receiver Santonio Holmes has been diagnosed with a Lisfranc injury to his left foot. The injury is expected to be a season-ending one for the veteran receiver. Holmes has 20 catches for 272 yards and a touchdown in four games this season. Cole also reported Dr. Robert Anderson saw Holmes’ MRI results and he may see Holmes in-person for a second opinion. While the Jets didn't provide an update on Holmes' condition on Tuesday, Rex Ryan is expected to make a formal announcement in his Wednesday press conference.

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
All signs point to Holmes' injury being a season-ending one, which is bad news for a struggling Jets team that has already lost its best defensive player, CB Darrelle Revis for the season with an ACL injury. While a trade or free-agent signing to bolster its receiving corps are possibilities, the team also needs Stephen Hill, Jeremy Kerley, and Chaz Schilens to take it up a notch or three.
