The Facts:
Following up on a
previous item, Green Bay Packers running back Cedric Benson has been diagnosed with a Lisfranc foot injury that could sideline him for six to eight weeks. Benson is scheduled to undergo further evaluation and doctors will examine his MRI results to determine next steps. If doctors determine that Benson needs surgery, then his season would be over. Green Bay head coach Mike McCarthy already had ruled out Benson from Sunday night's game against the Houston Texans.

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
Bad news for Benson and the Packers, not to mention fantasy owners who were relying on him as a flex option. As mentioned in our earlier reporting, we think Green Bay will take a committee approach, with Alex Green, James Starks, John Kuhn and Brandon Saine splitting carries. We don't think any are particularly good options versus the Texans this week. Alex Green and James Starks (healthy after a bad case of turf toe) are the two we would target if you want to invest in the Packers backfield.
