The Facts:
The Colts will be without Brown, their leading rusher, for Sunday’s road game against the New York Jets. Brown had surgery Tuesday to repair torn knee cartilage, interim coach Bruce Arians said today. The initial timetable on Brown’s return is two to three weeks, Arians said.

The coach said rookie Vick Ballard would start Sunday. Delone Carter is expected to back up Ballard, who has 42 yards on 21 carries in limited action through four games. Brown has 239 yards on 60 carries with one TD. Brown, ironically, suffered the injury on his final play in Sunday’s 30-27 home upset of Green Bay, when the running back scored on a two-point conversion run.
