The Facts:
HC Mike McCarthy announced that Benson has been placed on injured reserve as a result of the foot injury he picked up against the Colts in Week 5. Benson has been given the designation to return, so he will be eligible to start practicing with the team in six weeks and could play again in eight weeks if his foot has healed up enough to allow it.

As PFT's Josh Alper notes, that’s about the same amount of time it is believed Benson will need to heal up so the move doesn’t have much downside for the Packers. Meanwhile, as
previously noted, Alex Green, John Kuhn and James Starks should all see time with Benson out of the lineup. McCarthy indicated that the team will go with whoever’s hottest on a given day.
