The Jets and Martin have mutually agreed today to a restructured contract. As per club policy terms and length of the contract were undisclosed. The announcement was made by Jets' GM Mike Tannenbaum. Martin, is the fourth-leading rusher in NFL history with 14,101 yards on 3,518 carries.

It's worth noting that Martin, who will be entering his 12th NFL season and his ninth with New York, was the only Jet to attend the news conference at which Eric Mangini was introduced as coach last month. "I have always had the highest regard for him both as an individual and as one of the fiercest and most determined athletes in the game," said Mangini, adding he considered Martin an important team leader.
