The Facts:
Philadelphia Eagles head coach Andy Reid announced Tuesday that he fired defensive coordinator Juan Castillo and promoted defensive backs coach Todd Bowles to replace him. Castillo had been with the Eagles since 1995, largely on the offensive side of ball before he was named the defensive coordinator in February 2011. "I put Juan in this situation, and things didn't work out as I'd hoped," Reid said in press conference Tuesday.

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
Andy Reid promised changes during the team's Week 7 bye and he kept to his word. Despite being an odd choice for the defensive coordinator position from the get go, the timing of Castillo's firing feels a little "scapegoat-ish" to us. That said, the Eagles inability to put pressure on opposing quarterbacks had made the unit an uninspiring option as a fantasy defense through the first six games of the season. Philly led the NFL in sacks with 50 in 2011, and the current seven is third-worst in the league. If Bowles and Co. find a way to maximize the potential that's there and create turnovers, then the Eagles defense should be fantasy worthy in the season's second half.
