The Facts:
Tight end Chris Cooley told NBC4 Washington sports anchor Dan Hellie that he is in contract talks with the Washington Redskins and expects re-sign and join the team on Monday. Cooley was released in August after eight seasons, during which he became one of the franchise's most popular players. He has remained in contact with the team since his release, while also working as an analyst for NBC4-Washington DC. Cooley will have to pass a physical before the deal can be finalized.

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
It makes sense for the Redskins to re-sign Cooley with Fred Davis out for the season with an Achilles tendon injury. Cooley's fantasy value had been on the decline over the past few seasons as injuries took their toll on his playing time. We are inclined to believe that Cooley's veteran presence will be more impactful on the field and in the locker room than as a fantasy asset.
