Jack Del Rio Signs 3-Year Extension With Jags
(2/23 6:44 PT)

The Facts:
Del Rio had two years remaining on a five-year contract that averaged $1.3 million annually. But after making the playoffs in his third season, owner Wayne Weaver gave Del Rio a new three-year deal that was believed to be worth more than $3 million a season. "Jack and his staff have made steady progress with this team, and our 12-4 record and return to the playoffs last season should be rewarded," Weaver said in a statement. Reported by FOXSports.com

The Jaguars were 5-11 in 2003, 9-7 in 2004 and then returned to the postseason last year for the first time since 1999. "I appreciate Wayne's support," Del Rio said. "We want to continue to build this football team, and I look forward to continuing in our quest to bring a championship to Jacksonville."
