The Facts:
The Washington Redskins released running back Ryan Grant on Tuesday, who was signed as depth in late September after Roy Helu was placed on injured reserved. Grant saw limited playing time in Week 5 against the Arizona Cardinals, and didn't play the last two games. He carried the ball once for five yards. The With Grant out, the Redskins announced they brought back running back Keiland Williams who they signed as an undrafted free agent in 2010. Williams appeared in 15 games as a rookie, serving primarily as the third-down back. He also performed well as a special teams contributor. Williams was cut in 2011 and signed with the Detroit Lions. He played in six games for the Lions this season, but recorded only two carries and two receptions.

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
Rookie Alfred Morris is entrenched as the Redskins starter, and ranks second on the NFL in rushing yards. We didn't see the Grant signing as a threat to Morris, and feel similarly about Williams in his second stint with Washington. It's possible that Williams will challenge Evan Royster for third-down duties. Williams isn't worth a spot on your fantasy roster unless or until he carves out a consistent role for himself or Morris sustains an injury. Grant could resurface on another running back needy team, and with that comes another (long) shot at fantasy relevancy.
