RB needy teams are reportedly interested in Panthers' DeAngelo Williams
(10/28 11:31 PT)

The Facts:
Multiple sources report the Carolina Panthers have received multiple inquiries about the availability of running back DeAngelo Williams. Williams has carried the ball 61 times for 210 yards and two touchdowns through seven games. The seven-year pro is due $5.25 million in guaranteed money this season. Any team that trades for Williams will be responsible for the remaining $2.6 million in the second half of the season. Williams signed a five-year contract extension worth $43 million in July 2011. After this year, the current contract calls for another $18 million spread out over three seasons. The NFL trade deadline is Tuesday, October 30 at 4:00 p.m. ET. Reported by ESPN.com

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
After rushing for 836 yards on 155 carries and catching 16 passes for 135 yards in 2011, Williams has largely been an afterthought in the Carolina Panthers dysfunctional offense this year. The Panthers have spent a small fortune on the combined contracts of Williams and backfield teammate Jonathan Stewart, and despite a despite an obvious lack of commitment to the run, also signed for Charger Mike Tolbert during the offseason. Fantasy owners are hard-pressed to start any member of the Carolina backfield most weeks, so dealing Williams to a running back needy team would be perceived as a good thing for him, as well as Stewart and Tolbert. We'll keep you posted on the latest development in potential and/or confirmed trade offers involving Williams.
