Texans RB Tate remains hamstrung by hamstring
(10/30 10:23 PT)

The Facts:
Following up on a previous item, the Houston Texans will keep running back Ben Tate out of practice a few more days in an effort to get him ready for the team's Week 9 home tilt with the Buffalo Bills. Tate stayed in Houston over the bye to rehab a hamstring injury suffered in the Texans blowout win over the Baltimore Ravens. Head coach Gary Kubiak is concerned about Tate's ability to stay healthy. “My biggest level of concern with Tate is just keeping him on the field. It seems like it’s been one thing after another. If it’s not the toe, the hamstring. This has been going on for a few years. We need him.” Reported by the Houston Chronicle

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
While Foster owners are more than happy to see him shoulder the load in the Houston backfield, non-Foster owners of Ben Tate had hoped to use the No. 2 back as a flex option in favorable matchups. With the exception of a 74 rushing yards, two touchdown performance in Week 2 against the Jaguars, a case of turf toe limited Tate's carries, made him largely ineffective while on the field, and caused him to miss Week 6. Next up for the Texans is the very running back friend defense of the Buffalo Bills in Week 9, a matchup that screams mega fantasy points. If Tate can't go on Sunday, then Justin Forsett would back up Foster. The bump in touches along with Buffalo's inability to stop the run could give Forsett modest fantasy value for owners in deeper leagues.
