The Facts:
The Pittsburgh Steelers announced the signing of former New England Patriots quarterback Brian Hoyer to a one-year deal. Hoyer and ex-Philadelphia Eagle Mike Kafka worked out for the team on Tuesday morning. While veteran Charlie Batch is preparing to start this week against the Cleveland Browns, Hoyer provides some much needed depth with both Ben Roethlisberger and No. 2 Byron Leftwich sidelined with shoulder and rib injuries.

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
Hoyer was a undrafted free-agent who signed with the Patriots in 2009. He completed 27 passes in 43 attempts for 286 yards, one touchdown, and one interception in three seasons with New England. He lost a training camp battle to Ryan Mallett this past summer. While the Steelers already ruled out Leftwich for Week 12, Tomlin called Roethlisberger "doubtful" after positive medical tests. Fantasy owners of any Steelers pass catchers should count on Batch being under center this Sunday and make lineup decisions with that in mind.
