The Facts:
Twelve years after the Pittsburgh Steelers drafted him with the eighth overall pick of the 2000 NFL Draft, wide receiver Plaxico Burress signed a one-year deal after a tryout with the team on Tuesday. Burress bolsters a Pittsburgh receiving corps that is down two starters. Antonio Brown is still recovering from a high-ankle sprain sustained in the Steelers 24-20 win over the New York Giants, while veteran Jerricho Cotchery fractured multiple ribs in Sunday's 13-10 loss to the Baltimore Ravens. Burress caught 45 balls for 612 yards and eight touchdowns with the New York Jets last season, but the team opted not to re-sign him. He spent much of this year trying to get a job and now he gets a chance to contribute on a team fighting to keep its playoff hopes alive.

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
Who says you can't go "home" again? Burress turned down a two-year deal from the Steelers following his release from prison last June after the Jets offered him more guaranteed money. If you believe the post-workout comments from Mike Tomlin and others in the know, Burress is in good physical condition and he'll get a chance to prove it this Sunday against the 2-8 Browns. He remains off the fantasy radar until we see what he's got left in the tank and whether the Steelers pass attack has any juice with Batch under center.
