The Facts:
The Carolina Panthers waived struggling place kicker Justin Medlock after he missed his last three field goals. Medlock beat out Olindo Mare in training camp and won the kicking job despite having attempted only two field goals in his career. He previously kicked in the Canadian Football League before landing the starting job with the Panthers. Medlock started the season 7-of-7 on field goal attempts, but had a kicked blocked against the Redskins. He ten missed field goals against the Broncos and Buccaneers. According to interim general manager Brandon Beane, Carolina worked out free agents Graham Gano and Nate Kaeding on Tuesday, and then signed Gano to a two-year deal. "I thought Gano was the best thing for us long term, not just for the next six weeks," Beane said. Gano played in 36 games for the Washington Redskins between 2009-2011, converting 59-of-80 field goal attempts. The Redskins waived Gano before the start of the regular season in favor of ex-Ravens kicker Billy Cundiff.

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
The Carolina Panthers offense has struggled this season, so regardless of how good or bad the kicker is, he's probably riding the pine in the majority of fantasy leagues. Consider this a housekeeping note, not a fantasy endorsement.
