Andy Reid: Nick Foles will be the Eagles starting QB for the remainder of the 2012 season
(12/3 4:21 PT)

The Facts:
In his Monday press conference, Philadelphia Eagles head coach Andy Reid made it official: the team will stay with rookie signal caller Nick Foles for the remainder of the season. Reid discussed the decision with regular season starter Michael Vick and said the veteran was on board. Vick is in Phase 4 of the NFL's concussion protocol, and would be the primary backup to Foles once he is healthy. Foles completed 22-of-34 passes for 251 yards and a score against the Cowboys in Dallas, but it wasn't enough, as the Eagles dropped their eighth straight to fall to 3-9. Reported by Allie Fontana on Twitter

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
With the Eagles season down the toilet and Vick slow to return from a serious concussion, the writing was on the wall. It was only a matter of time before the embattled Reid made the decision to name Foles the starting quarterback for the final four games of the season. The change also signals the likely end of the Michael Vick era in the City of Brotherly Love. “I think where we’re at the point in the season that it gives us an opportunity to play and finish it up,” Reid said. “Foles is playing well enough to where I think he can win football games and I think where we sit at this position in the season it’s the right thing to do. And Michael, we’ve got to make sure he gets healthy.” We think Foles will be playing for his job and possibly Reid's too. He showed improvement over his first start, and spread the ball around to five different receivers in Week 13. Jason Avant led all pass-catchers with 79 yards. Philly's schedule over the next three weeks is fairly appealing from a fantasy perspective, with matchups against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Cincinnati Bengals, and Washington Redskins. Foles may have some deep league appeal as a starter or as a QB2 in start two formats.
