The Facts:
Less than 24 hours after being mathematically eliminated from the postseason, the New York Jets named Greg McElroy the starter for Week 16 against the San Diego Chargers. It will be McElroy's first career start. Head coach Rex Ryan will bench four-year pro Mark Sanchez, whose season-long struggles continued during Monday night's loss to the Tennessee Titans. Sanchez threw four interceptions and loss a fumble (thankfully not with his butt), while completing just 13-of-28 passes for 131 yards and a touchdown. He leads the league in turnovers with 24, including 17 interceptions.

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
Although the Jets owe Sanchez $8.25 million in guaranteed money in 2013, it's hard to believe that the powers-that-be won't discuss the pros and cons of taking a cap hit now vs. bringing him back to compete for the starting gig next season. Compounding the dysfunction is the presence of Tim Tebow, who reportedly chose the Jets over the Jaguars because they wooed him with talk of how they'd involve him in the offense. We haven't seen evidence that Ryan and his staff have any interest in using Tebow creatively or otherwise and that's unlikely to change over the final two games of the regular season.
