49ers TE Vernon Davis concussed in 42-13 loss to Seahawks
(12/23 11:8 PT)

The Facts:
San Francisco 49ers tight end Vernon Davis suffered a head injury late in the first quarter of Sunday's night's against the Seattle Seahawks. Davis caught a Colin Kaepernick pass near the Seattle end zone but was hit and knocked off his feet by safety Kam Chancellor and lost the ball. Davis was slow to get up and look woozy exiting the field. After being examined by doctors on the sideline, Davis went to the locker room for additional evaluation. The Niners announced Davis had been diagnosed with a concussion and would not return. Davis had one reception for 27 yards prior to leaving the game. He didn't catch a pass when the teams played in October.  Reported by Allie Fontana on Twitter

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
Now that he's been diagnosed with a concussion, Davis will need to be medically cleared by an independent neurologist before he can return to practice. His status heading into Week 17 is questionable. On the off chance that your league plays through to the end of the NFL regular season, you'd be hard pressed to start Davis with any sort of confidence. He's been held to just five catches for 56 yards over the last five games. Davis joined the Bills' Scott Chandler and the Steelers' Heath Miller in the Week 16 tight end hurt locker.
