MRI reveals Nick Foles broken his hand in Week 16 loss to Redskins; Michael Vick the likely Week 17 starter
(12/25 2:59 PT)

The Facts:
Philadelphia Eagles head coach Andy Reid confirmed rookie quarterback Nick Foles played with a broken hand in the second half of Sunday's loss to the Washington Redskins. While Foles was initially thought to have suffered a hand contusion, an MRI performed Monday show a hairline fracture on the second metatarsal. Reid say the team will rest Foles and that Michael Vick is expected to make his first start since he went down with a concussion in Week 10 against the Dallas Cowboys.  Reported by PhiladelphiaEagles.com

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
Foles completed 32-of-48 passes for 345 yards, one touchdown and one interception and nearly led the Eagles to a game-tying drive that came up short on the 5-yard line. Believe it or not, the the rookie signal caller had as many fantasy points (14) as Tom Brady, Colin Kaepernick, Andrew Luck and Philip Rivers in ESPN standard scoring. Foles started six games in 2012, completed 60.8 percent of his passes for an average of 6.4 yards per pass attempt. He threw six touchdowns to five interceptions and compiled a 79.1 quarterback rating. His best game came in Week 14 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, when Foles threw for 385 yards, two touchdowns and no turnovers for 30-plus fantasy points in most leagues. We'll have to wait to find out whether Foles has done enough to win the confidence of the Eagles brass (and that may change) to be considered the quarterback of the future. In the meantime, Vick's return for the season finale against the New York Giants sets up an interesting situation. Vick has an opportunity to audition for 31 other teams and also extinguish the G-Men's playoff hopes. Vick is worth a look for fantasy owners in need of a quarterback for Week 17. He has a solid track record of success against the Giants--24.6 fantasy points through last four contests--and New York's defense is an unmitigated mess. Having LeSean McCoy and Brent Celek back in the lineup doesn't hurt either.
