Report: Reid Already Fired By Eagles
(12/30 4:22 PT)

The Facts:
Andy Reid, who led the Eagles through one of the most successful periods in franchise history and was once called “Coach for Life” by owner Jeff Lurie, has been fired after 14 years as head coach of the Eagles. Lurie, according to two sources, has told Reid, who has one year remaining on his contract, would not return in 2013, ending months of speculation about his future. Reported by CSNPhilly.com

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
With 14 years of service, Reid was the reigning dean of NFL coaches. Reid, 54, is a three-time NFL Coach of the Year, winning the honor after the 2000, 2002 and 2010 seasons. Reid coached the Eagles longer than anybody in franchise history and won more playoff games than every other Eagles coach combined. Even with this 2012 dismal season, Reid finishes with a 130-93-1 regular season record and a .583 winning percentage. According to CSNPhilly.com's Reuben Frank, the list of logical candidates for the Eagles’ first head coaching vacancy in 14 years are DCs Perry Fewell of the Giants, Vic Fangio of the 49ers, Mike Zimmer of the Bengals; OCs Tom Clement of the Packers, Greg Roman of the 49ers and Rick Dennison of the Texans; and Packers highly regarded QBs coach Ben McAdoo. If Lurie went against convention and opted for a college HC, Oregon’s Chip Kelly, Penn State’s Bill O’Brien and Stanford’s David Shaw could be candidates, although it’s widely believed Shaw and O’Brien will stay at their current position. Less likely is former NFL head coach like Jon Gruden, who also worked here under Rhodes, or Bill Cowher, the former Steelers coach.
