The Facts:
Peterson fficially joined the elite 2,000-yard club. In the third quarter of Sunday's game against the Green Bay Packers, the running back had a 20-yard carry that pushed his tally to 2,009 yards.
This makes Peterson the seventh running back in NFL history to run for 2,000 yards or more in a single season. Peterson entered the game against the rival Green Bay Packers on Sunday needing 102 yards to join O.J. Simpson, Dickerson, Barry Sanders, Terrell Davis, Jamal Lewis and Chris Johnson in the 2,000-yard club. Peterson is the only one to do it after having reconstructive knee surgery. Hall of Famer Eric Dickerson holds the single-season record with 2,105 yards, set in 1984. Peterson finished the game nine yard shy of Dickerson's record, with 2,097 yards.
