A league source told Tim Graham of the Buffalo News that Russ Brandon, about to be named team president, is fond of Ken Whisenhunt and would like the opportunity to land him as Chan Gailey's replacement.

The Cardinals fired Whisenhunt on Monday. He coached the Cardinals for six seasons, guiding them to the Super Bowl. His record was 45-41 with a 4-2 record in the postseason. As lackluster as that might seem, keep in mind Whisenhunt coached two of the Cardinals three winning seasons over the past 28 years. Stay tuned. It sounds like Buddy Nix will remain GM in Buffalo, but Brandon seems like the man with the power.
