Maurice Jones-Drew Thinks He Should Have Had Surgery Earlier
(1/1 12:51 PT)

The Facts:
Jones-Drew indicated Monday that he probably should have had the surgery sooner. “I should have had it a little earlier than when I did but it’s just something that you learn from,’’ he said. “You’ve just got to keep going.’’  Reported by the Florida Times-Union

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
Since HC Mike Mularkey wouldn’t talk about what exactly was wrong with the foot and doesn’t allow his players to discuss injuries, it is still unclear what kind of foot injury it was. Jones-Drew, who will be taking classes at UCLA and rehabbing in Los Angeles in the offseason, was back on a cart after having the surgery in Charlotte, N.C., last week. "hen asked if he regrets not getting the surgery earlier, he said, “It’s a part of the deal I guess. I tried to go. It just didn’t work and then finally enough was enough.’’ The possibility of having surgery immediately after the injury was an option, he said, “but at the time when we were talking about it, the thought was to let it heal a little bit and see how things go. Just waited a little too long at the end of the day.’’ Jones-Drew will be entering the final year of his contract next season. He skipped training camp last August in a failed attempt to get a new contract. ... Stay tuned. We'll be following his progress closely in coming months.
