The Facts:
Peterson said Wednesday that he's been lobbying coach Mike Priefer to play special teams for some time, Ben Goessling of the St. Paul Pioneer-Press reports. "For the past two years, I've been trying to get in on field goal block," he said. "Come in off the edge, you know? It's just going to take one block for them to really be like, 'OK, you know what? Let's take the chance and let you go out there and get it done.' Kickoff return, I wouldn't mind getting back there. I'm in it to win."

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
The Vikings have had to shuffle their kick return units with Percy Harvin out for the season. Last week Marcus Sherels ran back four kicks for a total of 124 yards. With the game on the line, though, Peterson said he wouldn't want to be on the sidelines. "I believe in having your best players on the field, especially in critical times," he said. "You never know what can happen. That's what I would do. ..." Seems unlikely to happen. But his desire to be on the field comes as no real surprise, right?
