Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
Akers indicated he fell on a kickoff during practice “weeks before” the 49ers’ game against the Saints on Nov. 25. After the game in New Orleans, Akers, who had been listed on the injury report with a pelvis injury this season, flew to Philadelphia and received injections from the doctor who performed the double sports hernia surgery. Akers, who ranks 30th in the NFL in field-goal percentage (69.0), is now battling for his job after the 49ers signed placekicker Billy Cundiff to compete with him in practice.
