“After several productive conversations, we made the difficult decision to part ways with Scott Pioli and allow him to pursue other opportunities,” Chiefs owner Clark Hunt said in a statement released by the team. “Scott has been an invaluable member of the Chiefs family since joining us in 2009, and we sincerely appreciate his tremendous contributions over the last four years.”
Pioli, who was hired to take over the Chiefs’ front office in January of 2009, released his own statement thanking the team and apologizing for not building a winner. As the Chiefs continue to change the direction of their franchise, former Eagles HC Andy Reid is widely expected to be named their next head coach.
