Report: Christian Ponder Dealing With Bursitis In Throwing Elbow
(1/5 2:25 PT)

The Facts:
The injury to Ponder's throwing elbow is more than a bruise. The Minnesota Vikings' quarterback once again is dealing with elbow bursitis -- a buildup of fluid that may need to be drained before Saturday night's NFC wild-card playoff game against Green Bay. Reported by 1500ESPN.com

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
An NFL source told 1500ESPN.com's Tom Pelissero that Ponder should be able to play with the injury, which generally is treated with rest but may take weeks to fully heal. The bigger concern may be his limited practice reps this week. ESPN's Josina Anderson has reported that backup Joe Webb got as many as half of this week's practice reps. The expectation is the Vikings will work out Ponder at Lambeau Field a few hours before tonight's kickoff to make sure the issue is not significantly impacting his throwing motion. As Pelissero notes, Ponder had knee bursitis earlier in the season and didn't miss any time. He has a history of issues with his throwing elbow, which needed to be drained repeatedly during his senior season at Florida State. ... Stay tuned. I'll have more in this section of the site in the hour leading up to kickoff.
