The Chargers have hired Colts vice president of football operations Tom Telesco as general manager.

The team’s current director of player personnel Jimmy Raye was also a finalist for the job, but Telesco gets the call to replace A.J. Smith. The next question is who replaces Norv Turner? Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports that the Chargers have expressed interest in speaking to Bengals DC Mike Zimmer about their own vacancy. No interview has been scheduled yet, although that could be coming soon. Meanwhile, Chris Foster of the Los Angeles Times reports the Chargers have contacted UCLA coach Jim Mora regarding the opening. According to Profootballtalk.com, it’s not believed that Mora is interested. But we'll obviously be following up.
