Robert Griffin III's Surgery Over; Not Totally Reconstructed?
(1/9 1:39 PT)

The Facts:
Following up on the ongoing story. ... A person familiar with the situation said that Robert Griffin III’s knee surgery was completed just after noon Wednesday. Dr. James Andrews repaired both Griffin’s lateral collateral and anterior cruciate ligaments, the person said. According to that person, Griffin plans to remain in Florida for the foreseeable future to be monitored and begin his rehabilitation. The initial six to eight weeks of recovery are considered critical key to his rehabilitation, the person said. Reported by the Washington Post

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
According to Post staffer Mike Maske, while conducting surgery to repair the torn lateral collateral ligament in Griffin’s right knee, Andrews found that the quarterback’s anterior cruciate ligament “needs to be stronger,” according to a person with knowledge of the situation. That person denied a report by ESPN saying doctors already had diagnosed a complete ACL tear. Indeed, Robert Griffin II confirmed that. "Robert's ACL is intact, but not enough for his profession,' Griffin II said in a text message to USA TODAY Sports. "You and I could be fine. But he is an athlete. So they will replace. ..." Again, the timetable for RG3's return is six to eight months. And it's safe to assume we'll be following his progress closely.
