The Facts:
Alan Lowry was a master of trickery. During his long tenure as special-teams coach for the Titans, he created all kinds of plays that caught opposing teams off-guard, including one of the NFL’s all-time best — the Music City Miracle. On Friday, Titans coach Mike Munchak had a surprise for him. “He told me he was going in a different direction,’’ Lowry said. “I don’t get it, but that’s what he’s decided to do."

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
Lowry became the fourth Titansassistant coach to lose his job in the past two weeks, following running-backs coach Jim Skipper, tight-ends coach John Zernhelt, and linebackers coach Frank Bush. Munchak fired offensive coordinator Chris Palmer in November. All but Zernhelt and Palmer had expiring contracts. According to Tennessean staffer Jim Wyatt, the dismissal of Lowry came as the biggest head-scratcher, considering the special-teams unit was the most successful part of a team that struggled on both offense and defense in 2012. But surprising or not, the Titans will go a different direction.
