The Facts:
New HC Andy Reid said Monday the Chiefs would continue to use the 3-4 defensive system they’ve had in place for four seasons. “There’s been time invested in the 3-4 here,” Reid said before adding that he hired new coordinator Bob Sutton with the 3-4 in mind. “(Sutton is) able to keep the keep the integrity of the defense as far as the 3-4 goes,” Reid said. “Bob knows the 3-4 and he knows it well.”

Reid also said he would call the offensive plays instead of coordinator Doug Pederson. But he said Pederson was ready to be a coordinator even though he has coached in the NFL for just four seasons. ... Also, the Chiefs announced Tuesday they have signed Dave Toub as special teams coordinator. Toub joins the Chiefs after spending nine seasons in the same role for the Chicago Bears. During his tenure, the Bears registered an NFL-high in kick return yards (punt and kickoff) with 17,031 and kick return TDs (22). He helped Devin Hester become the NFL’s all-time leader in kick return touchdowns (17) and compile the NFL’s fifth-best all-time punt return average mark (12.1 avg.). Dave is one of the league’s best special teams minds,” Reid said.
