Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
Another league source told Tribune staffer Vaughn McClure that every coach on fired HC Lovie Smith's previous staff has been let go except for defensive backs coach Jon Hoke, who was not in the building when the other coaches found out their fates. Trestman told reporters he sat down with defensive coordinator Rod Marinelli, and Marinelli decided to move on. The Bears try to keep Marinelli on staff and offered a one-year extension, but Marinelli declined. Special teams coordinator Dave Toub already left to take the same position in Kansas City. ... Meanwhile, as Profootballtalk.com's Mike noted, it was believed that Trestman would keep Bates, whose strong relationship with Jay Cutler commenced when they were together in Denver. It’s the first tangible action taken by the Bears with which Cutler possibly will take issue.
