The Chargers know that if they’re going to have to improve, they’re going to have to get Philip Rivers back on track. They continue to hire solid offensive coaches around him, with Sports Illustrated’s Peter King reporting they’re hiring Frank Reich as quarterbacks coach.

Reich was on new Chargers offensive coordinator Ken Whisenhunt’s staff in Arizona, and along with new Chargers head coach Mike McCoy, gives Rivers three bright minds to work with. It might also spark Rivers’ recently dormant ability to lead come-from-behind situations, something Reich knows a little about since he led the biggest comeback in playoff history for the Bills against the Oilers in the 20 years ago.
