Aaron Rodgers In No Rush To Upgrade His Contract
(2/7 12:10 PT)

The Facts:
The Packers have a bevy of contract decisions to sort through this offseason. Rodgers, linebacker Clay Matthews and nose tackle B.J. Raji are all candidates for lucrative extensions as core players nearing the end of their current deals. As a result, unrestricted free-agent WR Greg Jennings already has one foot out the door, and TE Jermichael Finley's standing is in question. While the Ravens' Joe Flacco has designs on becoming the highest-paid quarterback in the NFL this offseason, Rodgers is in no rush to upgrade his scheduled $9.25 million base salary. "I think everybody is going to see what Joe ends up signing for," Rodgers said on Wednesday. Reported by NFL.com

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
"It kind of is what it is, as far as that goes," Rodgers replied when asked about a potential hometown discount. "The team, when they're ready to talk contract, we'll get there when we get there. ..." Rodgers is confident the two sides will "get a deal done. I'm not worried about that." As NFL.com's Chris Wesseling suggested, "ESPN analyst Merril Hoge's dubious opinion notwithstanding, Rodgers deserves to be rewarded with the richest contract in the NFL." And there's no doubt he'll get that from the Packers. The only questions are when and how much more than Flacco.
