Hanson, the NFL’s oldest player last year, said he still hasn’t decided if he wants to return for a 22nd season, though he knows he needs to soon. “I still have just been taking my time to really figure it out and make sure that I’m making the right decision and so I haven’t officially decided yet,” Hanson said. “I’ve been in contact with the Lions. I’m around and so I’m not hiding, but I told them I just really want to take my time and make sure that I’m not making a mistake by coming back and not going to regret that I left if I do so I’m just taking my time.”

Hanson made 32 of 36 field goals last year, but said late in the season he was contemplating retirement. He’ll be an unrestricted free agent in March, and Lions president Tom Lewand said Friday he’s been in contact with Hanson’s agent but “we haven’t come to any agreement about a contract going forward.” Hanson said he’s been working out lightly and praying about his decision that should come “sometime in the next weeks.” So is Hanson leaning one way or another? “I honestly don’t know," he said. ...
