More Speculation On Denver RBs; Could Willis McGahee Be Out Of The Mix?
(2/20 12:14 PT)

The Facts:
The question at the Broncos’ running back position is with their starter, McGahee. He is 31 (turns 32 in October) and is coming off a compression fracture in his right tibia that forced him to miss the final seven games of the season, including the Broncos’ playoff loss to Baltimore. Age, injury and a $2.5 million salary in 2013 make McGahee vulnerable.  Reported by the Denver Post

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
So wrote Post staffer Mike Klis, who believes the Broncos will shop for a running back. Klis also believes they will look first for a veteran free agent with tread on his tires because pass protecting Peyton Manning is a high priority for a Broncos running back. Knowshon Moreno is a solid reserve starter who will make $1.7 million this year. He can pass protect, catch and run, but after back-to-back games of 119 and 115 rushing yards, Moreno appeared beat up in his final three games and there are those who have already tagged him as a potential cap casualty. And while we've been told McGahee and Moreno will be back, one thing is certain: Second-year back Ronnie Hillman, who struggled with pass protection and assignments as a rookie, will return as the change-of-pace back. Hillman rushed for 83 yards and had three receptions for another 20 yards in the playoff loss against Baltimore; an encouraging performance as he goes into his second season.
