Cowboys Believe Hydrations Is Root Of Miles Austin's Injury Issues
(2/23 1:38 PT)

The Facts:
Hamstring injuries have prevented Austin from being Austin for the last two seasons, and as a result the Cowboys are looking at ways to keep the wide receiver healthy in 2013. “We’ve had a lot of discussions about Miles," coach Jason Garrett said, "and it’s a very comprehensive discussion.” Garrett reiterated Friday what he said during the season about hydration being a big part of injury prevention, and he added that the coaches need to protect Austin from himself during the week.  Reported by ESPN.com

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
As ESPN.com's Todd Archer notes, Austin is scheduled to count $8.3 million against the cap in 2013, and his future has been speculated about outside of the organization this offseason. “We certainly feel great about Miles, and the only issue we’ve had with Miles is simply health,” Garrett said. "It’s really important we get him healthy and get him going like he’s capable of. ...” We'll go ahead and suggest this has probably been a goal the last two seasons and we've all seen how that's worked out. Austin was limited to 10 games in 2011 but played in every game in 2012 after sitting out four preseason games with a hamstring strain. He caught 66 passes for 943 yards and was second to Dez Bryant with six touchdown catches, but he had only two 100-yard games on the season. The Cowboys (and Fantasy owners) need more.
