According to CBSSports.com's Jason La Canfora, the 49ers have expressed to others that a deal to trade Smith is effectively complete.

La Canfora went on to note the deal can't be finalized until the league year begins on March 12. But even though it's not official, La Canfora advised his Twitter followers that both clubs view it at as if it's effectively done. La Canfora doesn't know who the trading partner is, but he views Kansas City and Jacksonville as two teams that make sense. Arizona also has a reported interest. ... Stay tuned.
