More On Greg Jennings; Packers 50-50 To Franchise WR?
(2/25 11:39 PT)

The Facts:
Following up on a previous item. ... A source told Journal-Sentinel staffer Bob McGinn it's a 50-50 proposition whether Jennings would be franchised for what would be a tender worth about $10.36M. Reported by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
If the Packers do tag Jennings by the March 5 deadline, it would give them a week to shop the veteran receiver and possibly consummate a sign-and-trade deal with another team. McGinn went on to suggest it's possible the Packers already have a suitor interested in acquiring Jennings. However, the entire league understands that Green Bay has a tight cap situation, so getting something for Jennings would be difficult since teams could just call the Packers’ bluff and sign him without compensation, assuming the tag would be rescinded at the 11th hour. If the Packers use the franchise tag on Jennings, the entire amount would count against their cap in 2013. At 29, Jennings is looking for the security of a long-term contract. Six months ago, sources said he was seeking a deal averaging in the neighborhood of $13 to $14 million. But after a second injury-punctuated season, an executive in personnel for an AFC team told McGinn last week said he expected Jennings' deal in free agency would average only between $7 and $9 million. ... Stay tuned.
