Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
The deal cannot be made official until March 12, but Gazer report the Chiefs “really made a commitment to Smith.” According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, that commitment means sending their second-round pick in this year's draft -- the first pick of the round -- along with a conditional mid-round pick in 2014 to San Francisco in order to secure Smith's services. The Chiefs are now even more certain to release Matt Cassel. According to Shefter, there will be a market for the former Patriots' services. It also goes without saying that Kansas City has a new starting quarterback in Smith.
