Adam Vinatieri In No Rush To Re-Sign With Pats
(3/3 11:10 PT)

The Facts:
Sources say the Patriots have offered Vinatieri a multi-year contract worth more than $2 million annually that would keep him the highest-paid kicker in the game, but that he has not accepted it. Even with the start of free agency pushed back for three days until Monday, a source close to Vinatieri said he wants to let the market determine his value, "like at an auction."  Reported by the Boston Herald

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
While it's clear that Vinatieri wants the kind of multi-year deal New England has offered, he's obviously in no rush to make a decision. He has until Sunday at midnight to either accept it or test the market. At this point, it appears he's ready to choose the latter course. "The opportunity to go into free agency this year," Vinatieri, who seemed to speak of playing for the Patriots in the past tense, told the Orlando Sentinel this week, "is a good thing. ..." More as developments warrant.
