The Facts:
The Browns locked up another one of their core players Friday, signing Droughns to a three-year contract extension. The move keeps Droughns, who last season became the first Brown in 20 years to rush for 1,000 yards, from going onto the open market when free agency is expected to begin next week.

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
The Browns are more than $21 million under the salary cap in 2006 and could have bid for reigning NFL rushing champion and MVP Shaun Alexander, two-time rushing champion Edgerrin James and former 2,000-yard rusher Jamal Lewis when the free agency period starts on Monday. Instead they will stay with Droughns as their feature back, a reward he earned with last year's consistently productive effort.
