The Facts:
According to a team source, the Giants hope to re-sign Bennett before the market opens and he officially becomes an unrestricted free agent, though a deal does not appear imminent.

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
As the Sports Xchange recently suggested, Bennett had a good, but not great first year after emerging from Jason Witten's shadow. His problem was with consistency, as he didn't always hold his blocks. And even though they want Bennett back, Daily News staffer Ralph Vacchiano reports the team won't get into a bidding war (Tampa Bay seems a suitor). And if he goes, it seems unlikely they'd turn the job over to Bear Pascoe and second-year pro Adrien Robinson. They will check out free-agent possibilities, like Brandon Myers (Oakland) and Anthony Fasano (Miami). Also, one NFL source said tight ends coach Mike Pope has his eye on an under-the-radar tight end in the draft.
