McMichael, a tight end who has played for the Chargers for the last three seasons, has been released, a league source tells PFT.

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
As PFT's Michael David Smith noted, the decision is not a big surprise. Although McMichael’s $1 million base salary for 2013 was affordable, he was due a $250,000 roster bonus on the fifth day of the league year, and that was more than the Chargers wanted to give a player who will be 34 before the season starts. Although he was largely phased out of the Chargers’ passing game last season, with just nine catches in 16 games, he’s still a solid blocker, and some offense that employs a blocking tight end can use McMichael. It just won’t be the Chargers.
