previous item. ... Griffin says his surgically repaired right knee is "doing good" and he will be ready to play next season. The quarterback was at the Texas Capitol on Tuesday and he told the Associated Press he'll be ready to return to play when it's time.

Griffin won the 2011 Heisman Trophy at Baylor before the Redskins made him the No. 2 overall pick and he led the team to the NFC East title. HC Mike Shanahan said Monday that Griffin's muscles are stronger than expected after January surgery to repair two knee ligaments. ... We'll stress again: At this point, nobody -- not Shanahan, Griffin or anybody else -- really knows whether the second-year signal caller will be ready to go full speed come Week 1 this season.
