According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Cardinals reached an agreement in principle on a one-year deal with Mendenhall.

Although previous reports suggested the Broncos were the favorite to land the former Steeler, Arizona makes sense. The Cardinals are down to just one running back -- Ryan Williams -- left on the roster after releasing Beanie Wells on Monday. LaRod Stephens-Howling will also be allowed to leave as a free agent. Cardinals HC Bruce Arians is familiar with Mendenhall from his stint as Steelers OC. Arians has also made it clear he prefers to roll with a featured type back rather than a committee. It certainly makes this situation worth watching.
