Lewis Has Mohamed Sanu's Back
(3/18 12:1 PT)

The Facts:
In response to a column in which Enquirer staffer Paul Daugherty's strongly suggested the team needs to be more proactive in free agency and specifically at wideout, HC Marvin Lewis, rebutted the claim that the team needs a complementary wide receiver by saying that "Mo Sanu (is) way ahead of where one certain receiver (Chad Johnson) was in his second year playing in the National Football League. I'll go on record saying that." Reported by the Cincinnati Enquirer

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
Added Lewis: "It's why you have an opportunity to go after these guys and go get these guys. So you continue to make your team better. You are not a positive in making your team better when you keep adding old guys. What did Randy Moss do for those guys last year? He did nothing. He got in the way of a younger player performing. ..." Sanu was establishing himself as a solid second option when a broken foot ended his season heading into Week 13. This summer, Marvin Jones and Sanu will both vie for the second receiver spot next season. Jones is more of an outside receiver who can stretch coverages vertically but he still has a habit of slowing up on deep balls. Sanu is more an inside-type receiver who with his size is valuable in the red zone.
