Bucs Still Working To Trade LeGarrette Blount
(3/18 6:3 PT)

The Facts:
Following up on the ongoing story. ... Though the Bucs, so far, have pulled off just one big deal during free agency, they have been involved in lots of conversations – conversations about Darrelle Revis, about possible free-agent signings and about assorted trade proposals. The latter includes talks about Blount, who is known to be among the players the Bucs are attempting to move. Whether the Bucs find a taker for Blount is still to be determined, but they’re trying to make a deal. Reported by the Tampa Bay Times

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
This is nothing new. We've been hearing the say since last month. But what if they can’t move him? According to Times staffer Stephen Holder, it raises serious questions about the future of Blount -- with the Bucs or any club. Despite his big numbers as a rookie, when he burst onto the scene and rushed for 1,007 yards in 13 games, Blount’s role has been reduced in each of the past two seasons. In 2012, he bottomed out, rushing just 41 times for 151 yards while Doug Martin earned all-rookie honors. The Bucs’ attempts to trade Blount suggest coaches don’t see his role expanding in 2013, either. If he’s on the roster at the start of the season, do the Bucs keep him? Do they make a last-ditch effort to trade him? Do they cut him? Those are all possibilities, because the Bucs -- by attempting to trade him -- have confirmed that Blount is expendable. The only thing that would make it clearer would be the signing of a free-agent running back or the decision to draft one next month. ... Stay tuned.
